Going forward.

Endings always clear the way for beginnings. Doors closing, another opening. I could go on for sometime, but i will just reflect a little on the closing of our Co-op gallery in Brooklyn. Today we close our doors ending a 14 year run of selling handmade work by local artists. When it first opened in 1994 it was created by 10 craftspeople who basically saw a need to sell their work and get more of the price for selling that work. It was a unique venue at that time. Over the years membership declined, but we still kept the premise of crafted work made locally and over the years encompassing work from all over the US.
Hopefully, our closing will leave and opening for other people to take the challenge of running their own retail. It is easier to be on your own but there was something say for working together within a community to bring your work and other peoples work to the public.
